attitude control

My main question has also been alluded to on both of the other threads. Will the content be filtered? For example say I bought a Scion, and had a legitimate complaint (hypothetically, I don't own a Scion). I mean a real complaint, not just a silly rant. Say it doesn't handle well at high speeds or the interior wears out quickly (again, hypothetical). If I post to talk about such things, will my thread be deleted because it shows a sponsor in a bad light?

Tribe has been very good about accecpitng critical views and dissent, but now there's money involved.

I think legitimate criticism is fine. Hate, negative ranting spew, not fine. Should be pretty much the same as other tribes.

if it's clear that the tribes are sponsored it shouldn't be too bad because then people should assume that it is not an open forum.

I submit for your persusal the following link:

          www.searls.com/cluetrain/95-theses.html

"The Cluetrain Manifesto" is a book about how the internet is changing the way that companies manage their brands. One of the key "clues" offered is this one:

"We are not seats or eyeballs or end users or consumers. we are human beings - and our reach exceeds your grasp."

The point of this clue is that if someone is going to rant about Scion, they are going to do it regardless - there is going to be someplace on the internet where it can be done and Scion has *no control* over that fact. I look at scion.tribe.net in much the same way I look at tribeprofile.tribe.net/. The User Profile tribe was a great way for us here at Tribe.net to host a conversation among people who, for some reason, were interested in the new profiles. Some liked it, some hated it. But we got honest feedback, good and bad, and we worked it back into the product. I would think that any marketer out there would find this type of interaction absolutely invaluable, which is why I am excited about the Sponsored Tribe concept as a real revenue generating product for us.

My hope is that Scion will join in on promoting this tribe, so that people will be able to join in the conversation. Scion should then be able to use this as a key resource for staying in touch with their constituency. I would hope that this is more than just another marketing glossy or online commercial, but rather that it is an important method by which companies can learn more about their customers.
